Have you ever noticed how the financial goalposts in life seem to keep moving? We tell ourselves that if we could just earn a little more, save a little more, or reach that next financial milestone, we’d finally feel secure. But somehow, when we get there, we find ourselves wanting just a little bit more.

In my recent message, When Do We Have Enough?, we explore Jesus’ parable of the rich fool in Luke 12. Jesus challenges the assumption that financial security and happiness come from accumulating more possessions. Instead, he invites us to discover a different kind of wealth, one rooted in gratitude, trust, and generosity.

We can begin putting that teaching into practice using this free five-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide.

What’s Included in the 5-Day Devotional?

Each day includes a Scripture reading, a short devotional reflection, a question for personal reflection, and a practical exercise to help you apply what you’re learning.

Over five days, we’ll explore:

  1. The Danger of Moving the Goalposts — Recognizing how the endless pursuit of more can shape our lives and undermine our contentment.
  2. Rich Toward God — Learning to trust God’s provision and make the priorities of God’s kingdom our own.
  3. Gratitude as a Spiritual Discipline — Discovering how intentional gratitude can change the way we see what we already have.
  4. The Freedom Found in Generosity — Exploring how giving can loosen money’s grip on our lives and open us to greater joy.
  5. Enough — Learning from the Apostle Paul how contentment grows through trusting God in every circumstance.

When Do We Have Enough? — A 5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide

You can read the devotional on your phone, tablet, or computer, or print a copy and keep it with your Bible. Set aside about 10–15 minutes each day to read the Scripture, reflect on the questions, and put the suggested practice into action.

My hope is that these five days will help you recognize the blessings already present in your life, develop a more generous spirit, and experience greater freedom from the constant pressure to accumulate more.

Because Jesus reminds us that we begin to discover what is enough when money stops being the source of our security and becomes a means of loving God and our neighbors.

May this devotional help you discover more of the life money can’t buy.
